Mission and Vision

Mission

Dept. of Clinical Microbiology is committed towards  undergraduate, post- graduate academic training  and comprehensive health care  investigations. The dept has long been distinguished for excellence in professional education.Medical microbiologists in the department  strive to understand and monitor a range of diverse pathogenic microorganisms like bacteria, fungi, parasite and viruses. Investigations on epidemiology, modes of transmission, nature of virulence, treatment modalities of infectious disease play a major role in abatement of disease outbreaks. It helps in the choice of antimicrobial agents for treatment, sets guidelines for sterilization and biomedical waste disposal practices, guide in immunotherapy and vaccine for prevention of infectious diseases

Vision
Medical Microbiology is an ever evolving dynamic science. The micro-organisms involved in infectious diseases are diverse  and all of them pose a potential health risk to individuals and the community. Microbiology has now evolved into the era of Automation for rapid laboratory diagnosis to support clinical diagnosis. The department has already begun its journey of up gradation by installing these systems -
 
 1. VITEK 2 [Automated culture and  antibiotic sensitivity system ]
2. Fluorescent Microscope under RNTCP for the diagnosis of TB
3. RT- PCR
4. ELISA Washer and Reader
5. Gene Expert MTB

Also  installation of following  systems and Laboratories in near future  has been envisioned.

2)BACTEC

3) Anaerobic Work Station
